Tenacissoside F is a natural product that has been shown to have cytotoxic effects against tumor cells. Tenacissoside F has been found to be effective against tumour cells in an animal model of breast cancer and treatment with Tenacissoside F led to the regression of a human malignant melanoma xenograft. The mechanism of action for Tenacissoside F is not well understood, but it does not appear to bind specifically to DNA or RNA, making it unlikely that the drug acts as a chemotherapeutic agent by inhibiting cell division. This natural product may act as a chemotherapy drug by inducing apoptosis in tumor cells.
